Happy retirement, Piet Servaas!

29.11.2022
Piet Servaas, Managing Director of Jacosol, will retire at the end of this year. An ideal opportunity to take a look back at his career and the history of Jacosol.

Jacosol from start till today

Jaco (predecessor Jacosol Nederland BV) has existed since the 1970s as a small-scale insulation company active in horticulture. The two owners (Jaap and Cobus) of Jaco developed their own insulation product at the time of the oil crisis. An open-cell foam fitted with a PVC jacket. In 1988, the focus shifted more to manufacturing PVC wall seals (lintels). A new product, new owner and new name (Jacosol) gave the company a new lease of life... In 1994, with the arrival of Piet - as co-owner - the production of lintels was revived, and the revenue was tripled!

In 1999, Piet took over Jacosol as single owner and launched the name Jacosol Netherlands BV. He got more and more demand for a wider range of technical insulation. Consequently, he made the company a successful player in the world of technical insulation. Since 2006, the company has been based in their current premises at Wieringerwerf  (with as much as 5000m2 of stock in the warehouse). In July 2011, Jacosol Netherlands BV was the first foreign company to be added to the IPCOM group.

In 2023, a next name change is planned as Jacosol becomes part of ISOPARTNER Netherlands!

Piet’s contribution

Piet’s drive has always been to improve processes. As Piet says: The drive to become more and more efficient. This is a continuous process needed in down times but also in good times. It never stops. Processes are never finished. There is always room for improvement.

Since the beginning, Piet’s mission has been to reach a turnover of 10mio, a magic number. Which he did in 2016! But even after that, Piet kept challenging himself and the business and continued to grow Jacosol.

His biggest learning in all those years? Believe in your own strengths.

Retirement

Piet has a lot of ideas for his retirement, but doesn’t want to plan too strictly. No bucket-list for him… What he certainly will do, is have an "undisturbed" holiday for the first time in years. For the rest, several projects are possible. It is certain he will not shut down, but instead will keep challenging himself.

He also still has a message for all colleagues at Jacosol and in the IPCOM group: Perseverance. Discipline. Work together. Make use of the tools available within IPCOM. Be a visionary. If today is there, yesterday's tomorrow is already gone. In short, move forward. See life as a challenge!
