ISOPARTNER NL – Helps looking at the stars

Extremely Large Telescope (ELT)

With a mirror diameter of as much as 39 metres, the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) by the European Southern Observatory (ESO) is set to be the world's largest optical and infrared telescope. Its main goals are to research galaxy formation and evolution, study exoplanets and their atmospheres, investigate the nature of dark matter and dark energy, and explore the properties of black holes. The ELT's large mirror will enable astronomers to capture more light, observe farther into space, and study fainter objects, facilitating detailed research on the first stars and galaxies. It will also observe exoplanets, helping to understand their habitability. Additionally, the ELT will advance technological progress in astronomy through new instruments and adaptive optics. It will be built on Cerro Armazones in Chile, known for excellent observing conditions. ISOPARTNER Netherlands aids the project by solving vibration issues with Sylodamp SP100 blocks from Getzner.

Insulcon – Project Branderblok

Insulcon recently completed a challenging project too: a burner lid had to be placed on a new furnace to slowly heat it up to the application temperature of 1200°C; this takes about a week.

Insulcon Project Branderblok

There were several requirements for this project: the temperature on the outside had to be reduced to less than 65°C. Also, ceramic fibres were not allowed in the application, so low bio-persistent Insulfrax® fibres were selected. Next to this, the traditional way of insulation would make the lid too heavy for the application, therefore the Insulcon solution was chosen.

Following Insulcon's philosophy that every problem has a solution, they developed the following: they produced a vacuum formed burner block and installed it in the burner lid, encasing it firm with Insulfrax® 1300 HT insulation blankets for a secure seal. This lining was coated with Insulcoat 1450 to make it even more resistant to high temperature and wear. This tailor-made solution met all requirements and was fully done at the production facility of Insulcon.

All in all, a challenge successfully accomplished once again, thanks to the dedicated team!

Project PROMADUR

ISOPARTNER RO - Project PROMADUR

Together with Promat, ISOPARTNER Romania has accomplished the passive fire protection of a 500 square meters’ wooden structure of an event hall. How? By using PROMADUR, the newest generation of reactive paint for the fire protection of structural and non-structural wooden elements.

PROMADUR expands in case of fire, forming an insulating foam that protects the wood. This leads to reduced combustibility and slower heat transfer, and thus increased fire resistance. On top of this, the high transparency of PROMADUR allows the natural appearance of the wood to be maintained.

ISOPARTNER RO - Project Climaver Amber Forest

Another achievement to be proud of, is the successful implementation of the Climaver insulation system from Isover in the "Amber Forest" construction project, which aimed to enhance thermal and acoustic insulation of ventilation ducts.

Project Climaver Amber Forest

Climaver, developed by Isover, is a high-performance insulation system featuring mineral wool panels with reinforced aluminum facing. It offers superior thermal and acoustic properties, contributing to energy efficiency and indoor comfort.

The installation involved surface preparation, measurement, cutting, placement, fixing, sealing, and quality checks to ensure proper insulation. The project is the result of a positive collaboration with Isover who gave technical and commercial support and the subcontractors who performed the installation work under Isover's guidance. In addition, the project's success highlights Climaver's effectiveness in enhancing insulation and sustainability. It’s a recommendation for the group to consider Climaver for future projects!
