Isolteam insulates water tower

15.09.2022
Isolteam does not only insulate houses, flats and commercial buildings. They also regularly work on special projects. One of these was the water tower in Lommel.

De Watergroep is the largest drinking water company in Flanders and supplies drinking water to 3.2 million customers in 177 Flemish municipalities. De Watergroep has 80 water towers spread across its service area.

During May-June of this year, Isolteam had the opportunity to insulate one of these towers in Lommel. It was built in 1955 and has a height of 38 meters. The tower, consisting of a masonry-filled concrete structure, contains a water reservoir with a capacity of 1,200 cubic meters.

The main reason for insulating is to prevent condensation on the inner walls; furthermore, the insulation protects the water tower against heat and cold. The tower was insulated with Foamglass. This is a vapor-proof insulation, suitable for damp/wet areas and for a tile finish.

Similar projects may follow. In any case, Isolteam did a great job!
